English as an additional language and/or dialect

The English as an Additional Language and/or Dialect (EAL/D) faculty works with newly arrived students in Australia, including students from a refugee background.

Our team works with students and teachers in a number of ways including direct teaching in parallel classes, team teaching across faculties, small withdrawal groups and resource development.  Students receive targeted support to engage in learning of English language and literacy skills.

We work in partnership with a number of external agencies to support refugee student learning and wellbeing including the Refugee Action Support Program (Western Sydney University), Refugee Music Program and SportingLinx (STARTTS) and Poetry Creative Writing (Sydney Story Factory).
