The talented football program is the longest standing gifted and talented program at Bossley Park High School beginning in the early 1990’s. The program has changed over the years, to the point where football is offered as a subject during sport and PDHPE elective classes with students learning in a practical and theory setting. The program provides a holistic approach to education for student athletes and is designed to provide additional training opportunities to support young players motivated to reach their potential, while at the same time pursuing a first class education. The program aims to help provide more opportunities to players, develop additional player pathways and support the long-term development of young players.
The program includes:
· Boys and girls program, inclusive in each year group
· Weekly practical training sessions embedded into the timetable and curriculum
· Injury prevention program
· Referee accreditation
· Coaching accreditation
· Performance analysis
· Event Management training
· Football Science
· Goalkeeper training
· Periodised planning
The talented football program at Bossley Park High School has a rich and proud tradition of developing players that have represented their country and have gained professional playing contracts in Australia and abroad.
